The dash loom can be taken out via the side air vent. The engine loom should come out without taking the dash out (Left hand side).

But if your replacing the whole loom that comes from the engine bay and goes around to the ECU from the drives side - yep dash pad out for sure.

There is 3 main looms, dash, main and engine. 2 you can get away with, the main loom - no.

I wouldnt think so the ecm loom exits via the large hole on the passenger side and plugs into the main loom via the 8 or 10 pin ecm plug...all the transmission wiring exits out the same hole in the firewall so you shouldnt have to touch the wiring running along the back of the dash....you may have to move a wire or 2 to get the spedo to work.
ignore the purple and yellow coloured wiring..... it just a old post showing the wire that has to be run for a l3 dash

Took me 2 hours to get it out the first time no I can do it within 30 to 45 mins.

Best off getting someone to help you so your not changing sides all the time.
