hey guys n girls,
as you know ive found the long lost senator and it is now sitting in the garage in mint condition ( just did a full service for it and washed it ) but then one thing came to me whats the insurance gonna be like? it is currently under mums insurance thingybut ive been hearing that u can have a nominated driver to also drive the car. im 16 in 6 months so im assuming the insurance is gonna be sky high.
We had so much trouble trying to get reasonable insurance for our son to drive our SS as a nominated driver that we ended up buying him another car. About 4 insurers we rang refused outright to insure it even though it was legal for him to drive as it was the only car in the family. All the others were so expensive that it would cost us as much as the car is worth in two or three years. A couple even flat out refused to insure it for my wife and myself because it was modified(body kit and 17" wheels) and I'm 51, the wife 45. Eventually Shannons insured it for $600 a year but my son can only drive it whilst on Ls. So he makes the most of that now even though he has his own car(Honda Civic) for when he gets his Ps. To cut costs down you could try insuring it for 3rd party and theft only and wear the loss of the car yourself if you write it off. Good luck!
I found out the hard way about not having full comp.
9 months to get money out of a person.
I had 3rd party didn`t fix my car.
Sold smashed car, borrowed money for new car back in the red.
Took me 4yrs. to pay loan off.
I know it hurts but full comp is the go.
I got my two girls on it as soon as they started driving.

What if you don't nominate him as a driver and just wear the extra excess if a young un nominated driver smashes it?
