coolant smell??

hi my v6 smells strange most of the time? worst when the heater is on and only faintly when heater of? there are no water leaks inside the car, but it does smell hot after driving it if you go round the front of the car outside? im prety sure the smell is hot coolant?

How is the coolant level? Is it low?

Does your temp ever go up sitting in traffic?

This could possibly be a bad heater core. Need more details.

ooo snap! i have the same issue as well...

with mine there appears to be no leaks in the engine bay or passenger footwell and there is a burning coolant smell after i have the heater on for a period of time. i have to top up the resoirvoir overflow every week or two...

na water is fine it dosnt apper to use or leek any water, temp will go to about just over half way at most?

Have a look on top of the motor between the heads, I had coolent sitting up there and it did the same when hot.

I had the same issue... my top hose area... the bleeder valve had a hacksaw attack from a previous owner... took engine cover off went for a drive... nice water marks everywhere... check your water pump to see if its giving its last sign of life... (stick ur finger right down under it... if it feels wet... time for a new one.... oh and please do it whilst the engine is reasonably cool and OFF hahaha)

how the hell does the coolant get up there??
