Hey Guys,
Getting really sick of a few plastic rattles in my VS, its mainly around the glovebox and to the left of the passenger (Ute), just wondering if anyone has any tips to stop all the plastic rattles? Eg some sort of padding? I know its a 15 yr old car so its not going to be perfect, but i'd like to improve occupant satisfaction![]()
Thanks Guys!
I had the same problem when i bought my 93 VR.
A can of silicone did the trick for me.
My center console was the main frustration as over the years it had grown loose and wobbly and would squeak and rattle whilst driving.
So i stuck it down and secured it by putting silicone around the sides.
Just make sure you don't put too much on things like the center console in case you ever decide to remove it for whatever reason.
Also go over the car with a can of WD-40, Interior that squeaks and creeks + doors and boot can use a good spray.
glue backed foam tape comes in handy-think you can buy it from Bunnnings

I've got foam tape, blue-tac, bits of cloth, windscreen sealant...all sorts of things through my car fixing rattles. I just grab whatever is closest when a rattle pops up

Silicon spray/tire shine is good for this also.
there is this stuff we use at work called flocking tape by 3m, manufactures use it from factory and we use it in customers cars all the time. it's really good for when plastic is rubbing on plastic. not that great for large gaps though.
Oh sweet guys cheers for the advice, at least it gives me some ideas which I can try out! Because Holdens are fine I like them, but some of their gear they make just isnt quality which is a little upsetting. You must give it to the European cars, my mate has a 85 BMW done almost 300,000kms and doesnt make a sound inside! Although I would still never buy one, cause that thing costs him a fortune mechanically wise!
