Default VS Series 1 does it have Central Locking?

Pretty simple but i have a 1995 VS Series 1 ute i got it a few months ago i have 2 keys for it with buttons but neither buttons work the doors so i just key open/close it, did this model come out with Central? or are both my batterys in my keys conviniently flat?

erm pretty sure all vs's came out with remote central locking. i could be wrong but im pretty sure the batteries are flat or theres some other problem with your central locking

theres probably something wrong with the central locking then... when i use the unlock button on my vs s2 sedan it opens the drivers door if i just press it quickly, if i press and hold it then all the doors open and the interior light comes on in both cases. the interior light is coming on in your case so the signal must be working but its not activating your central locking. someone may correct me but im positive all vs came out with remote central locking. why would they give you a key remote if the car doesnt have remote central locking? that just doesnt make sense

id say try replacing the battery or something because it just doesnt sound right that you would have the key for it to do nothing

Easiest way to solve this, is to take your door skins off and look at the locking mechanism, ive done it before and there is clearly no central locking! Mines an S pack so its not like a base model.

thats odd. seems weird holden would give out the keys when theres no central locking. im going to hazard a guess that it was just the utes that came out with no central locking so holden gave the utes the remote keys because it was cheaper than manufacturing ones with a separate key head

Yeah the 'tradie' pack utes missed out on a lot of stuff that was standard on exec. Some dont have tachos or speed alert either.

haha yer I dont really even notice it any more, but going from a berlina with all the electrics to a ute was a bit of a shock

yeah that would be a shock. im pretty certain i couldnt own a car without power windows again. i just love the luxury of them too much!

maybe just take the door skin of on the driver side as parbio suggested earlier and have a look to see if there are the door lock mechanisms. removing and refitting the door skins doesnt take too long so it may be easier than visiting holden

i dont know about anyone else but my 96 series 1 exec wagon doesnt have central locking either...the boot occasionally unlocks when the doors are unlocked manually but the only thing that happens usually is the interior light coming on. i have just recently replaced the head of the key so it cant be the battery...may have to look inside the doors...is there much work involved if i want to put in central locking
and does anyone else have a series 1 wagon without central locking?
