i have a vr acclaime v6 auto my mate has a vs v6 auto wagon
mine sits on 2000rpm at 100 kmph
his sits on 1500 at 100 kmph
same mine is irs
his live axel
we hit the same hill and climb it diong 100kmph
mine stays in top
his drops to third
same sise rims
why im comfused as his is the ecotech why when his is doing lower rpms his chainges down a gear
mine dosnt
mine efertly climbs the hill in top
Different torque curve on each engine, and the VS had revised shift points.
my vr v6 wagon sits on aprox 1800 at 100km/h and 2000 rpm at 110km/h mine is a berlina with a 5hdd (95 vr) but my old sedan did the same with the 4hdd trans

Id agree, He shouldnt be sitting on 1500rpm at 10
You should both drive next to each other one day at what each of you think is 100kph, and see if you travel the same speed.
His changes down a gear coz V6's make about 5kw at 1500rpm. I think there was a high ratio diff getting around that would make them sit around 1500rpm at 100k's.
Most ecotecs will sit on 1750rpm, and buicks will be about the same. (Auto, 3.08:1 diffs)
My old one sat at about 2000-2100, and I'm pretty sure that had a different difff ratio. Felt like it around town anyway

the trans is differnt
most vr's have 4l60e 4hdd where as they moved on in vr and went to the 5hdd that is in some vs's after that im not to sure but i think the vx runs the 4l80e maby even the vt and none are compatible and they are all th700
there all 4l60e's the 4hdd and 5hdd no. are just the model no. ie 4 for 94 5 for 95 etc the main diffrences are 5hdd's went to a pulse with modulated torque converter lock up. extra pin in the plug for this. and 4l80e's are a diffrent model possibly not for commodores the new 5 speed autos are 5l60e or something like that. (5 being 5 speed.)
the fact that its running higher in the rpm range and sluggish around town could mean the torque converter is ither stuffed or not locking up this can be noted by when running at 100km/h or so you should hear the exhaust not drop down a few notes after 30 or sec's and the revs drop down to 1750/1800
