Default Both my o2 sensors were covered in white...

Hey guys, fitted my exhaust and headers today.
When we pulled the o2 sensors out the were both covered in white stuff.
Is this normal? I have heard that if one is white and the other is black there is a problem but they are both white??

do I need new sensors or is there another problem?

    thanks

Surely they should be well covered in a light coating of soot? The same as the shit that comes from the inside of the tailpipe when you run your finger in it. Don't think white is a good sign though.

yeah it's defiantly running lean, pull your plugs out and have a look, see if its just that bank or a single cylinder

Did you use a silicone sealant on the gaskets for your extractors?

What brand of extractors did you use? Some have a gold coating and when this burns off it looks the same as welding galvanised steel. Comes off white and powdery.

I use 91 octane regular unleaded from various places. I replaced the plugs a few months back can't remember what they looked like.

The car was previously stock (when the o2s were taken out, while we were installing the new headers) the new headers are pacemakers, and we used real gaskets and all new bolts but the sensors were white before then.
