Hey guys well i finished changing the head gaskets and all the other gasket today on the vs commodore,
the cars been sitting for about a month now while i been fixing it, The problem is when i started it up today there's white smoke and some water coming out the exhaust..... there doesn't seem to been milky stuff under the oil cap or in oil dipstick and didn't look like any bubbles in the radiator..... does this seem normal for it to smoke for a while .... i just hope i haven't wasted all this time fixing the car for nothing.
cheers
Well considering combustion produces water i wouldn't be too worried, this was just until it heated up yes?
Well i never really let it heat right up, i turned the car off, i thought if i left the car running it might cause damage.... but yeah fair bit of white smoke and water when i revved it up a little, came out.... how hot should i let it get to check under the radiator cap for bubbles, will they be obvious???.... i dunno i think i might just take her for a drive tomorrow and see if the smoke goes away, Cheers
Is it smoke or steam?

it looked like smoke, but cant be sure, ill have to check tomorrow. its just p*ssin me off i spent so much time on this car.... it sounds beautiful when it starts, first start no problem
it could just be because of the cold start. most cars blow a little steam when the weather is cold. my vs sedan and my dads vs ute and even my mums vt sedan all blow a little bit of steam for a few minutes on a cold start until the engine warms up a bit
lets hope so
yeah best of luck mate, let us all know if it works out ok
done alot of heads it takes a good drive to blow all the crap out of the exhaust take for a good drive then have a look
Its most likely just steam from moisture in the exhaust system etc.Id let the engine run and come up to operating temp ,closely checking the temp gauge and listening to the engine for any changes in its sound etc. Then see if it clears itself up after a bit of a rev up once its up to operating temp.
