Hey guys,
Did a service on the Vs the other day and got in to drive her last night was driving for maybe 10mins and engine light came on....got her straight home turned her off and back on again no light then i went out again and was gone for over half an hour and no light. Got in her this morning and drive her for 10mins and light came on again did the shopping and drove home 15min drive and no light. Cant work out what the hell is going on.....all fluid levels appear to be fine and everything seems to be attached correctly etc. We have lowered the front end and replaced the link pin bushes and did the breaks as well not sure if lowering the front end would have anything to do with it (the rear was already lowered). The only other thing i could think of was possibly the alternator could be starting to go maybe had the engine light issue with my old VP wen her alternators were dying. Any tips on what to be looking for would be fantastic other than that i mite have to take her down to my auto lecki to hook her up to the puter to see if shes pullin error codes or not.
forgot to mention also replaced 2 hoses that were cracked as well and shes not getting hot or leaking anything from anywhere
You havn't bumped or damaged a plug on the front of the engine whilst servicing have you?
not that i can see or feel but will def check again
playing with the front end or brakes will not directly effect the engine light. It will be a condtion the ECU is getting from 1 of the sensors and reporting on it.
Check codes first and go from there.

thanks for that......just find it a little strange that it wasnt happening before we did the work on it.
Get a fault code out if it if there is any... Then work from there.. Other than that check everything you did in the service...
My old commodore ute ran with a intermittent engine light for 6 months with no apparent cause.. Then it dissapearedno clue to this day (I'm a mechanic too lol)
As mentioned above, see if any fault codes show up ,which should help point you to what is wrong.Heres a link to a thread that shows you how to do this test.---Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)---Theres some excellent pics in this thread that show you exactly what to do.These pics are down near the bottom of the page in the link.
