Sooo.. My dash lights aren't working. I had a read around and something was mentioned about the parking lamp relay, and, seeing that my parkers aren't working either, I ran down and got a new relay.. Nk dice, still nothing.
Can somebody be of further resistance? My parkers still aren't working, either.
have you checked that your fuse hasn't blown? if it is and you put another one in an it blows straight away as soon as you turn your dash lights on it usually indicates a short.. could be a dodgy stereo install?
All fuses are fine. Checked them all before I bought the relay. The car doesn't have a stereo (Plus, I do them myself, have been for years ).
Next? ):
i have experienced a similar problem in a car i was working on a while ago where the upper dash loom had a broken wire which caused teh dash lights not to work.. is it just the dash lights? or is it the button lights etc etc etc?
Currently the car is doing this:
No dash lights, no lights near the shift, no parker lights and the interior light is saying on (I just pulled the stupid thing out).
It's been doing this since I did an ABS code test with the ALDL.
Maybe a BCM issue?
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
How would one find this out if it is a BCM issue? I know where the BCM is, just not how to diagnose it.
All i can suggest is to disconnect your battery like you would to clear your error codes. Sounds like something to do with the ALDL test you did so probably a software issue tather than a short or failed part.
disconnect battery, try to start it , switch light on etc to drain all the circuits, then switch everything off again, reconnect battery and cross your fingers you might have cleared the fault. The famous IT reset lol.
Sweet. Going to do it now. I'll report back![]()
According to a VS wiring diagram, (which as far as I know is mostly the same as the VR) shows fuse no 1 under the dash connects power to the park lamp relay as well as the instrument (dash) lights, the glove box lamp, and the "original" audio system. If none of these systems are working, then Id be having another look at the fuse no 1,and check if power is available there with a multimeter or test light. The no 1 fuse is fed from the 60 A fusible link ,which is located under the bonnet in front of the fuse box.
Looks like I need another BC-- Just kidding! Did the reset as above and the lights instantly came on (Parkers included). If I could afford to give ya all a beer I would
!
Thanks a bunch guys.
Glad it all worked out.
