I had a similar problem with my ecotec. Turned out i cracked a spark plug and the spark was running up the leads to the dizzy. Dont know if its your problem but doesnt hurt to have a looky. And if it is in fact that problem, replace all plugs and leads.

coil bet you will find the coil is cracked and water has got in it when you washed the motor, is the coil still on the back of the blck? or has it been moved to the fire wall?

if you cant see it, its still n the back of the block, when you replace it extend the wries and re-position it to the firewall, makes life a lot easier getting to it.

Could be that useless wing on the boot? Nah but check all that first, best way to find a problem is process of elimination.

I was only having a joke, its all about personal preference Well on my plugs i have so black stuff on my crack. Also in the night i could see the spark travel up from the leads. A way iv checked my coils where to leave the car running and put a screw driver on the bolts that hold each pack down and if i could hear ticking/taping (which ever way to describe it) and that would be the stuffed one. Im not sure if this all applies to the V8, but this is how i did on my ecotec.

the 5.0 only has 1 coil, which is bolted to the back of the block to the right of the distributor as you stand in front of the car.

A real pain in the arse to get to!! if you change it, extend the wires and relocate it to the firewall.

Sounds like you have water in the connections somewhere. Did you wash the engine with a pressure sprayer or just use a garden hose? The only problem I had after washing my engine was from using a pressure sprayer. As well as the ignition coil, you may have water in the ignition module connector or inside the distributor cap.
