some basic had tools(spanners/screw drivers), preferably a torque wrench to get a consistent load on the manifold bolts and some sealant.

The best advice is to get yourself a gregorys workshop manual. It will show everything you need to know to replace the manifold gaskets, all step by step with pictures, well worth the $30 they cost. And importantly it also lists the tensions the manifold bolts have to be tightened up to.(this is very important if you dont want the gaskets to fail prematurely again.Too tight and they will crack and leak, same deal if they are left to loose.)
