Default VS wipers stopped working... then came back to life.. then died again

hey everyone, so on friday night my windscreen wipers started acting a bit strange, stopping very suddenly at the end of each cycle. The day after that they stopped working all together. At first I thought it would be the wiper motor.. but this morning they were working again (still strange but working), drove down the road and they died again... then they went once and died again...

Beginning to think it may be some wiring or a relay or something? or should I replace the wiper motor?

    Advice much appreciated, cheers.

My whippers do the same some times, but only on setting 1, they go to work and stop. Like the power was cut to them. But then you tap the whipper again it works fine again. Id replace the motor if I where you.

Hmmmm, $50 for a secondhand motor would be a pain if it didn't work.

Do they have any other common problems?

Yeah it would. Maybe go over all the cables/connectors maybe ones loose? and not giving a full connection hence the working then not-working. Not to cluey on the whipper motors.

Had i similar problem with a triton the other week. Turns out it was the earth on the motor. Only found this out because i accidentally touched the test lamps on the wiper motor chasis and it arked and started working. So when it fugs up again try touching a peice of wire between the moptor chasis and a good car body earth.

But it also sounds like the limit switch in the wipers if its playing up on cycle end. I think that is all uilt into the motor, so it may be worth your while to replace the motor.

Thanks for the advice boys. Looks like pulling it apart and having a look is the go, and maybe a new motor on the cards.

If you are taking the big plastic cover that goes over the wiper motor etc and can get to the plug you could try to put 12v on the grey/red wire ..leave it plugged into the motor and see if the motor works on slow speed...or light blue/red for fast....you should have negative earthed to the body on the black wire there too. There also should be a single wire strap from one of the screws of the motor going close to a attachment bolt that earths the motor metal frame itself .
If you dont want to take your wiper etc apart you could put 12v on the same 2 sets of the coloured wires on the plug on the left hand stalk under the steering column shroud and see if you get any action out of the wipers.

The motor burnt out and let all the smoke through the air vents, stunk real bad. Threw it in the bin and got a new one, works fine now. Thanks for the help
