Recently i was driving home and my engine (215km) decided to stop working, the oil light flashed up and then soon the other lights followed, i pulled over then before i knew it i was stopped... had to get a mate to jumper me so i could go as it seemed to have drained the battery?
Runs smooth but one cylinder sounds like theres somehting broken in it... i was thinking it might have been the rings or valves but the mech. recons its piston itself.....
anywho my question to you guyz....
1. Is it easy/cheap to get a new piston and replace it myself? (as the mech. thinks its too hard and will cost too much in labour)...
2. What is the average price on a working motor with warranty
3. Is is possible to Do a engine transfer at home (assuming we have the pulleys and such) and do you know of any videos/guides on doing this?
Thanks Comeyx
Second hand motors are around $500 usually with a months warranty. To do the job properly you would need a Gregorys manual - either buy ($40) or borrow from library - this gives step by step instructions. I'd allow 2 weekends to do this properly. Good Luck.
