which rails? trying to get the white blocks in the bottom rail, or trying to get the window in the side rails?

you will need to undo the 10mm bolt on the front side rail and move it a little out the way. have the window wound half way down, this should give you enough room to angle the window to either pop both white blocks in the rail, or sit the window in the side rail.

If you're talking about what I think you are it was a prick of a job. I had to replace my drivers side window regulator on the old VR when it was coozed, that part wasn't too much of a biggy, just drilled out a few rivets and slap a new motor in once I had pulled the assembly out of the door. I don't know what the correct way to do it is, but I had the window regulator wound down to about half way so that someone else could hold the window in place while I tried to get everything aligned.

Main areas that I remember having to get right were making sure that the glass was correctly aligned into the vertical guides which the window slides in as it goes up and down. The hardest part was definitely getting the two white plastic guides back into the "runner" (I'm not sure what the proper name for it is). From memory I think I removed a stopper from the runner that was towards the rear end of the car and slid the both guides in from that end. It took a lot of swearing and cursing and was not an easy job. If you are motoring the window up and down to adjust height and get the guides into the runners, don't forget that the window will automatically keep motoring downwards so be sure to keep your fingers/clothing etc clear of any moving parts! Hope this helps.
