Default Diff Problem, Wheel Bearing or Warpped Disk?

    Hi.
Ive found 3 different noises coming from my VR wagon. I hope you can help me find out what is making them so i can fix it.
    Noise 1.
I have a noise which i originally thought was a front left wheel bearing untill i replaced that and its still there. Its a dull, deep noise but more of a rumble at about 25k. You can feel it through the wheel a bit. Feels like a bit of tar stuck to part of the tyre and changes speed with the cars. I thought it must have been coming from the rear left so i jacked up the rear left and carefully put it in drive. I couldnt hear the original noise but could hear a gargle and clunk kind of noise similar to a cement mixer but no were neer as loud coming from the diff(noise 2). Remember only one of the wheels is jacked up so the diff will be working at this point. Should it be making any noise like this? Also could the diff be responsable for the first rumble noise?

    Noise 3.
It feels like the front left disk is warpped. You can feel it under breaking but nothing major. I checked the pads and they were down to the metal. I replaced them. there are a few scratches in the disk and a bit of a lip on the edge. There is a noise at 60k without breaking. sounds like you are breaking gently with warped disks. Do disks make this noise when they are warpped even when you dont apply the break?
Any help and advice you can give me would be great, Cheers

Depends on how much the disc has warped, having a lip can make the disc rub against the disc pads, when the brake calliper releases there is only a small gap created, having the lip will create a rubbing noise, this will in time disappear but it's only because the disc has rubbed a groove into the new pads, so it's not a good idea. If you have light scratches in the disc and lip defineately get the disc machined. It's not that expensive and will extend the life of your disc pads. I'd be trying that first, then monitor for noise again. Cheers.

    thanks Spirto,
Thats one noise i think i can solve. do you have any ideas what the rumbling noise from the rear could be? Its definately different from the front disk noise. Also any ideas about the diff noise? Or weather the diff could be making the rumble? Thanks Again

For the rumble noise, check the tail shaft centre bearing.

    Hi Longer,
I would suggest it is wheel bearing noise, is it IRS or live axel, being a wagon i wouldn't think that it was IRS. if it was diff noise it would get louder and louder till it was a humm noise.
Longer, perhaps send me a PM with your contact number, sometimes easier to chat about it. then describe it all via writting.
    Thanks.
