Hey, does anybody know why my vr would be chewing through fuel like alot.(full tank lasts about 90km , it has had a service this week. And still the same. Any help please?
could be a heap of things..
you need to tell us whats been changed, anything replaced recently, how do u drive.. have you had a search around to see what others have done with this same issue?
could be as simple as ur handbrake is on or ur injectors are stuck open..
whats your baseline, did it get worse or all of a sudden drop

can you smell fuel anywhere??, maybe check for leaks? 90kms a tank is pretty bad man
O2 sensors can run havoc with fuel consumption, have you replaced them?
EDIT: Actually, hell almost anything can... but 90kms? That's just crazy....
Would have to be fuel leaks, I get more than 90km with just $20 worth of fuel.
do you have a brother? i reakon hes syphoning your tank!

Fuel pressure regulator diaphram stuffed? Sucking fuel into manifold.
Mmmmmm...........maybe not.
If it was burning that amount of fuel you would have a cloud of black smoke following you where ever you went!
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
If its not blowing black smoke or revving its absolute nuts off, its either leaking or being stolen, Or you have a really small tank or the servo is rorting you big time. Try a different servo. !!
What do the spark plugs look like ?
try doing a fault code test on it as well mate, any info would help. i would definitely check for leaks though!
Well it has been like It for a while. But Its just gdtting worse. I've replacdd the plugs. Yesturday, how do I do the fault code check thing?
1.Locate the diagnostic connector under the the steering column on the drivers side.
2.Get a paper clip and bend it into a (U) Shape and bridge pins number 5 & 6 which are located on the top row counting from the left.
3.Jump into the drivers seat and turn the key twice (so lights are up on the instrument cluster).
4.If you bridged out the correct wires 'Check Engine Lamp' will be flashing.
5.The flashes are divided into 2 groups with roughly a second between each. You can read the flashes as follows:
The first series of flashes is tens, so for example lets say the first flash simply flashes once, this means the code is 10. After the pause (~1 second) a second series of flashes will appear, if this number is 2, the code it is spitting out is 12 which means everything is fine.
6.Another example just so you're sure
The first series of flashes you count is 4 meaning 40, the second series of flashes is 3. Adding the 40 and the 3 will give you a code of 43 which means the Knock sensor circuit is experiencing problems.
7.Each code the computer picks up is repeated three times with ~3 second pause between, so its wise to sit there to make sure there isn't any problems it has picked up.
8.Once you are finished turn off your ignition and remove the paper clip. It is important to note not to drive the car around while have wires are bridged as this will prevent new codes from being logged.
