    Default level 3 gauges/loom question

    gday guys,

a mate of mine recently put a level 3 gauge cluster in his s pack vs ute, and when he put his new wiring loom in, he realised that he doesnt get any lighting in his cluster or radio or anything when he turns his lights on (he is using a mag-light to drive at night at the moment!)

he noticed that there is two plugs which go behind the headlight switch, but his original level 2 s pack cluster only has 1, is this the reason why he isnt getting any lights in his dash?

    any suggestions, ideas, solutions?

any help is much appreciated, cheers

No - the Level 3 loom will not run the lighting as in the L2 loom. He will need to pull the level 3 loom and graft the 4th plug into his loom as per the 'tripin' thread.

Shucks. I shall pass on the thanks to the former users of the forum and Markovr who has answered evey last question I sent him. Truly a top bloke!

I have seen the conversion done with the level 3 loom - it takes ages and the lights still will not dim. You have to add the A/C plug and the some wires to the light plug. I tried for about a week to get it right. Then it struck me - this is never ever going to work and just not worth the effort.

So I strip back (unroll tape onto a bottle cap) a level 2 loom of all the tape to the 3 switches branch. I lay the loom on a length of wood with nails in it and all the plugs cut from a level 3 loom. Splice in at the same points that the plugs were cut and solder. Add the yellow black with a engine harnes plug size lug. Test with multimeter that the wires are good (continuity). Your done - takes an hour at most. Loom is plug n play

I found out the hard way that the L3 loom just doesn't work-i ended up splicing the L3 Trip Loom into the L2,and everything works.I went to the wreckers and got another L2 + L3 Dash loom and took my time and done it properly-now it looks factory, and works sweet.

Well done - the L3 loom is so inviting as an easy way to go - but just makes more issues to deal with along the way. Rep for you
