Exhaust manifold gaskets ???

hey guys when i bought my gasket set for my Vs commodore.... it came with exhaust manifold gaskets, I know that the car was never built with the gaskets, but do you's think it would hurt the car if i put them on???

i put some on my vr and 6mths later they started leaking.

i got this noisy ticking sound when the car warms up a bit, i replaced the idler tensioner today... im thinking its either the lifters or an exhaust leak, im pretty sure... the sound is at idle and increases with acceleration "when i rev it" , Oh and one of the exhaust manifolds is missing a stud sooo.... yeah i don't know, its starting to p!ss me off this noise
