Took my throttle body off today for a clean, all went well just putting it back on now and ive got a problem.
When I took the throttle cable etc off the little spring thing fell apart and I have no idea how it goes back together. Can anyone help please? It's getting dark and i need the car for TAFE tomorrow..
Also the tensioner pulley has come loose, is it just a matter of tightining the bolt?
Thanks!
EDIT: I'm referring to the 2 springs that attack the the little lever thing.. How do these go on properly to make the throttle spring back?

Anyone know how the spring and that go together?
the 2 return spring on the top that the throttle cable connects to?

I'll Post A Pic For Future Reference, When I Find My Camera In The Morning...
I Just Use A Mild Acid Clean (Bath) For My Throttle Bodies (Without Any Sensors On Though)...
**Don't Use Throttle & Carburettor Cleaner In The Idle Air Control Holes (Holes Either Side Of Butterfly) Because It Damages The Sensor..**
Apologies.. These Pics Are From One Of My Spares That I've Had Sitting For Awhile... (Bit Rusty)
1: Enertia Springs NEED To Be Sitting In Plastic Case... Top First, Then Put Base On..
2: Place The Complete Spring Casing On Throttle Body.. With The Two Straight Ends Of The Springs, Resting Just Underneath The Adjustment Screw..
3: With Butterfly In Idle Position... Manoeuvre The Curved Ends Of Springs In Position (See Pic) While Placing Over Butterfly Bolt...
4: Replace Spring Washer, If It Is Flat & Tighten Nut (13mm) Until It's Firm & Don't Over-Tight.
It Took Me About 10 Mins, While Taking Photos... (I Was Going To Do Step By Step Pics, But Thought It's Simple Enough) Hope It Helps..
I Actually, Got A Quicker Throttle Response Out The Throttle, By Doing This...
Wow thanks alot QuickVR, just a little too late im afraid.
Got home from TAFE, print off your pictures and the bloody mechanic arrives, he had no clue and fixed it up with your pictures with me and the swine charged me $87 for 3 minutes work. :|
Bastards.
No Worries..
Yeah, It Doesn't Take Long... "It Took Me About 10 Mins, While Taking Photos..." + Taking It Apart First...
$87.. Yeah, What A Rip-Off... I Wouldn't Of Charged Anything & Given You A Few Business Cards..
I Would Of Said For Him To Get His Trades Certificate Again Too.. Didn't Bloody Know... Pfft.. Was He Qualified..??
The Pics Are Up For Future Reference Anyway Now...
carb cleaner works fine IF you don't get it in the TPS sensor or IAC stepper motor
very simple if you remove sensor and stepper motor or can be done with them in place if a little car is taken. have done this many times without stuffing anything.
something to be aware of are the needle roller bearing (fitted to the later model TB's) for the butterfly shaft, you don't want to wash all the grease out of these. for the earlier model TB's they don't have bearings fitted so it is even more important

For the last 6 years Ive sprayed carby and throttle body cleaner all over the IAC and TPS and have never had a problem with either one.I know others that do the same and have never had a problem.I think its just bad luck and a coincidence that someone had a sensor stop working around the same time they cleaned out their throttle body with spray cleaner.Ive heard so many people say not to do this, and Ive yet to see it stuff a sensor up.Theres nothing mentioned on the cans of spray either, you would think they would have to warn you about this if their product could wreck sensors etc.( the cans of cleaner that I have dont mention anything about it anyway).
Throttle & Carby Cleaner, Reduces The Life Of The Sensors & WILL Stuff Them... You Might Not Notice It... But Someone With A Trained Ear CAN Tell... I Work With Drag Cars etc... & Have ALWAYS Been Told, To NOT Use Throttle & Carby Cleaners On Sensors (It's Designed To Clean Carburettors NOT Really Throttle Bodies.. They Just Add That, To Make You Buy It) & Use MAF Sensor Cleaner..
