    Hey all,

I have a VS V8 witht he BT1 dash, i pulled the old dash out to try and see if i could swap the speedo pin because it is the only one that doesnt light up (its tin) but realised i can't. but now that i have put it back together it's about 30km's out e.g when i do 80k's it only says 50 is there something i have done to it and if so how can i fix it?

yeah it is sitting at zero when off. when i first put it on it was tryin to sit at well under but after about 15 mins of being as gentle as possible and getting it to sit on zero it did but now it doesnt kick in until about 30 - 35km/h

Is it the thick orange needle for a BT1 (yes) - then it may have a splined socket to sit into. Use a falk and your fingers to pop the needle off again and reset it so it sits at zero.

I'd say the needle point has spun on the shaft of the thicker part - dont know if you can fix it or not.

When I removed my speedo needle to replace the odometer cog, it took a lot of force - I even fabricated a puller to avoid distorting it however when I put it all back together I found the needle started off OK but then stuck at 40 then jumped to 50 and all OK above that speed. It has got slightly better with time but I figure that all the force needed to remove it must have damaged the needle shaft bearings. Maybe this is just a problem with BT1 police calibrated speedos....maybe they get attached differently to the general public versions.
