from the pics the white one looks cleaner, its up to you, if your not concerned about the vr or vs model than go after which is the better car. lower km's etc etc. also check under for oil leaks vs's had a habit of doing rear main oil while vr's had the sump that leaked. both have good and bad things

Just because the motor is newer doesn't make it better.... It's all down to whether the vehicle has been regularly serviced etc.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like

well the vr just had a big service done, diff pinion seal, alternator, new engine mounts and couple other things

hmm think the vr is best, just read problems with the vs not to mention it has a pod filter and bay looks terrible . . . cluster isnt working small dints and paint peeling

Given the K's, i recon the vr is well over priced. For the price i would go the vs. But both have alot of k's on them, though the v6 engines usually will happily make 300000k. I'd personally offer 3k for the vs and take that. The vr looks nice but at $3.9 i would leave it.

give into account id have to spend more and get the vs repainted due to paint peeling and dints, engine bay is abit dodgy lookin as well

if thats the case, see if the owner of the vr is willing to negotiate a bit. If the vs paint is shot, panel work required then leave it al together, just not worth it. Stick with the whites in old commodores is the only option i recon, the all seem to be loosing their clear coats on the metalics these days, or not far off. If not keep looking on carsales.com.au or somthing, surely theres more to pick from then just those 2 cars if the vr falls through.
