Sounds like a warped Flywheel, just like mine, it gets worse as the cars warmed/driven longer?

Could also be the car sturggling underload but it shouldnt do this through a gear change unless you change far to early.

If it's doing this, I check the engine mounts, especially the rear one. If they get oil soaked they go soft like jelly and allow the powertrain to flop about making smooth clutch engagement impossible.

engine mounts fine they are still hard. i have just had a look and the clutch cable is adjusted right out so im guessing that the clutch is buggered but will it cause this problem?

Engine mounts may be hard but they still can be sheared. If it was me, I'd eliminate the cheaper options before pulling the clutch out. Is the manual a retrofit? - I thought all VS had Getrag boxes with the dual mass flywheel.

The cable being fully adjusted should not cause judder. If it's happening on all gears as you say, and at idle it vibrates, I'd still suspect bad engine mounts. A worn clutch will slip not judder. Another possibility is oil on the clutch - remove the lower cover and see if there is oil on the pressure plate.

if it vibrates at idle as well it could have a flywheel off a vp or vr on it and they are balanced wrong for ecotec

I just thought i'd point out that the VS series 1 got the T5 box and series 2 onwards got the getrag...

    hope this helps

Hmm, could be very badly warped, I would look for something else before Flywheel if it vibrates at idle
My Flywheel is rooted, it vibrates on take off, and kinda vibrates on changing gears, kind of a grip, slip grip thing as it cant grab properly.
At idle the only thing I can is the Throw out bearing grinding away as its ####ed from the flywheel.

The Excedy flywheel is around $750 (T-5 one) or you can get a cheaper version off Not_an_abba_fan for around $350ish I think. Replace your clutch at the same time so both surfaces are flat.
Do not machine, I tryed this, one hard trip of Mt Hotham and she was warped worse.

IF it vibrates all the time i will put money on an incorrectly balanced flywheel (seeing as it's converted). I had a wrecker convert my VS with a brand new flywheel, and it vibrated everywhere in the revs. I pulled the 'box out got the pressureplate zeroed and the fly balanced now its all good.
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!

A missaligned clutch, would cause the gearbox not to spline in with the clutch

as for the vibration i had the same issue in my old vs..

i never got around to fixing it, got a new box n clutch and machining of the flywheel cause it was shuddering on takeoff ..

I thought it was some kind of balance issue to do with the balance shaft or balancer it self.. tho i never really knew what it was.
Now i own a vs series 2 with a T5 gearbox in it and apart from my button clutch destroying my diff it drives real smoothly

just get ur flywheel machined mate, flywheels are not cheap, especialy if ur running a dual mass like i am .. my flywheel cost me 1000 but its not the standard 1..

super stop brake n clutch (if ur in vic) can test ur flywheel for balance issue and will machine it, as for the clutch, go a heavy duty 1 .. if you can get trade price they a fairly cheap.. i paid 460 for my on/off ceramic plated button clutch
