Hey tryin to get my vs v8 runnin but it just cranks and won't start. Tried doin a code check but engine light stays on and doesn't flash when I but a papper clip between terminal 5 and 6 on plug under steering wheel. Checked spark and it seems good and fuel pressure was good too. I think the problem is the injectors aren't getting a pulse signal. I unplugged injector wiring plugs and I connected test light between the 2 terminals of injector wiring plug cranked engine and test light didn't flash. This test was in my workshop manual. Can anyone out there give me help or info or suggestions on what could be causing this. Cheers.
Id be working out why the check engine light is staying on when the ECU is put into diagnostic mode. The ECU might be buggered. When in diag mode it should flash up any stored error codes, if any are logged. If no error codes are logged, it should constantly flash up a code 12,not just stay on .Maybe try disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes to reset the ECU.
If you have an aftermarket immobiliser fitted it may be playing up.

you will need a noid light to check injector pulse, they are only cheap i got one for around $20
have you done anything to the engine before the problem started
can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key
after it has been cranking pull a spark plug out and see if its dry or wet
if its a series 3 it should have sequential injection and have a hall effect sensor in the dizzy
is it the right key you have?, and is the red blinky imobiliser light going out when you start. This will stop injector pulse.
Had a similar problem in mne recently...would crank over but not fire. No injector pulse. Turned out to be the Hall Effect Sensor in the dizzy. One new dizzy later and all was good.
