Default Struggling with changing front springs

Ive managed to change one side but i cant get the two bolts that are holding my shock onto my breaks off, i think theyve been done up with a rattle gun or something.

ive broken one ratchet trying to get them off. Any tips on getting them off.

    Here are some pictures.

    Cheers

Use a 90 degree bent extension as a breaker bar with a length of water pipe slipped over the long end and the socket on the short end for leverage.

do you have enough psi from the compressor, or do you have a little pissy one? If I use my small one it won't work to well, you need psi..

Use an oxy set to heat the nut up. Till its red hot (upper critical point).

Go soak it in WD40 and leave it over night. Then hit it with a blow torch and get the rattle gun back onto it. Heating it red hot is a bad idea, you'll ruin the temper of the bolts and possibly the steering knuckle.

They are torque yeild bolts, he shouldnt be reusing them anyway. Especially not after they have been siezed like they are.

Also, the steering knuckle will be fine as long as he doesnt heat the knuckle past its lower critical point (dull cherry red). Anyway, he should only be heating the nut.

I had this same problem, went out and bought a can of INOX, and off they came. WD40 sucks, INOX is the shiz. gets everything undone.

also a ratchet is a bad idea, cant get enough torque on it and you will just end up breaking the ratchet.
get a nice long breaker bar from supercheap for about 15 bucks, and chuck some pipe on the end of that if need be.

just used a really long ring spanner and a mash hammer, and just hit it bit by bit around, wasn't easy, but you just have to keep at it, until the seal breaks!

I did both mine today, use push and pull, i had a decent sized 22mm spanner on the nut and a snap on long reach 19mm on the bolt, put some force into it and it slowly came free.

Also put some big gloves on, it makes you stronger for the pure fact that you won't break your hand when you slip, also stops the lever hurting ya hands.

i took mine off last night..
mine were really tight aswell, its common they seize on there quite alot.
i just got an open ended spanner and put a pole over it for more leverage.

I wouldnt be using ratchets on them if you wanna keep them. Breaker bar first champ, with a small legnth of pipe will easily give you all the leaveage you need, till you nearly twist the entire bolt in 2.

When I did mine, first tried a rattle gun but it would not budge. Ended up using some quality ring spanners and a bit of force.
