hey guys
when i do a really sharp turn and floor it or try to do a dognut in my vr v6 (on private property) if i dont have more than 1/2 a tank the car fuel cuts and the engine dies. my mates in there vx and ba xr6both can do it on 1/4 tank. is there something wrong with my car and is there something i can do to fix it?
cheers
the reason it does it coz when u spin around the petrol gets washed to 1 side and the fuel pump ant picking up anything. only way to stop it is a drop tank, or as you said do it with more than half a tank!

why doesnt my mates vx do it? same fuel pump isnt it? same tank?
bcoz they're both getting washed to 1 side, coz the fuel pumps are internal and to 1 side if the petty is getting washed to the other side it wont pick it up.. both the cars are like that, try spinning the other way!

it happens due to damaged swirl pot or fuel return hose in the tank

Theres a small roundish plastic container type thing that sits inside on the bottom of the fuel tank ,its called a swirl pot.The fuel pump pickup "picks up" the fuel from inside this swirl pot.The fuel return line also empties back into the fuel tank via this swirl pot.The idea is that the fuel level will stay fairly even inside this pot when the vehicle is cornering, accelerating, braking etc,and this helps to stop the vehicle from cutting out from fuel starvation when the fuel is up one side of the fuel tank when half way through a corner.A few people on here have had trouble with the engine cutting out when cornering, and have found the return line to the swirl pot is not connected or has been broken off altogether. This is most likely done by bodgey mechanics or car owners when they are changing the fuel pump.Id run the tank as empty as you can, remove the fuel pump assembly from the tank, and make sure the fuel return line inside the tank is connected properly to the swirl pot and the fuel return line on the pump assembly. If its not connected to the swirl pot or has been snapped off, then its probably easier to get a second hand tank from the wreckers instead of trying to repair it.
The old owner of my changed my pump an on 1/4 around a corner mine dies then picks up to
