hey guys only new to the forum and thinking of buying a VS ute
Specs
-2000 series 3 V6 manual
-super low springs over 18's
-hard cover
-Maloo ( i think body kit)
-135ooo kms
it has a fairly bit dent in the tail gate but doesnt look hard to knock it out.
just wondering what sort of common faults Vs utes are known for that i could check for when goin to check this one out.
havent seen the interior or engine bay yet but ill keep u posted once i receive some more photos.
cheers

Just your normal car checks pretty much i'd say. That said though i've been fortunate enough not to have had any problems that have caused a headache.. maybe due to low kms (only about 8k more than the 1 your looking at.... mechanicals (engine/auto) Rear Brakes Disks go quick if it's done some circle work (can't be helped unless you add a brake bias control, bushes, steering, only ute related thing i can say is check behind the passenger seat to make sure someone hasn't cut a bigger hole between the cab & the compartment that houses the fual tank in the tray. Normal place for subs to be mounted & blow through the vent hole there but have seen some people cut the hole bigger to try & get more bass into the cab. Check make sure proper lowered struts not just cut springs.
is it a VT, VU or VS *instert confused face here* lol

2000 would be a vs wouldnt it? my dad has a raven black s3 vs ute, 2000 olympic model. bloody nice ute
I thought they stopped making the VS in 1997......
yea went from 1995-1999 and had special 2000 models, i would just check the radiator and brakes, radiator in mine went bout 130,000k's was original one so they see if any cracks of wearing apart from that they are a pretty decent ute, mines just rolled over 134,000
Cool aslearn something new every day.
I have a 1995 VS Series One ute that I bought from farmer in NSW. He used it as his "grocery car". It's done 96k - body is perfect, only faded paint - which comes up really well with a polish.
I would check for any major panel damage, oil leaks, service histroy? tyre wear and how hard it has worked indicated by the back of the ute !
best of luck.
thanks everyone
i received a email today from him and he said there are also a few little knicks and scratches in the body kit but only if u look had.
only thing that is throwin me off is its in dubbo. fair drive from newcastle, oh well i have family about half way so i could just pull in for the night.
97vsv8- thanks heaps ill be sure to sus out the rear end with a fine tooth comb. the guy who bought my old XG falcon ute cut a big hole behind the passenger seat for the sub, even though its a ford i nearly spewed when he showed me. i think ill just go old skool and make a fibre glass enclourse between the seats.
and yea its a VS, but ill be checking the plates for its Year first.
cheers, casey
You could go to the zoo!
I got mine from Parkes - with it being a country car make sure you check the suspension pretty well as that can be flogged out with the heavy loads they may or may not have had on the back - although from the description and km's i'd doubt it.
Being a manual the gearbox may feel really sloppy as mine did (I had a lot of movement in my gearstick whilst in gear, had the rubbers replaced and it felt brand new again)
It will have the Getrag gearbox and the dual mass clutch/flywheel, both of which are very expensive to repair or replace. Double check these items. I'm not saying that this particular ute is a bad one, but being lowered, with 18's and a dent in the tailgate etc may indicate it's been owned by a young bloke and possible not looked after.

could do the trip in a day easy, be about 4 hours each way
Yeah the 2000 model is an Olympic edition, thats what i got
