Hi all.
I got a 1994 commodore (actually rebadged as a Toyota Lexcen, but same same, right?!?!?!) and the cruise control doesn't work. Little light comes on the dash saying it is turned on, but that's all.
I have already replaced the stalk on the column, and checked the switch on the brake pedal, so want to replace the module under the dash.
Now for the question... anyone know which models of these modules are compatible? I am guessing anything from '90 to about '96... any one know more than me?? (Probably heaps, but we'll see... )
Thanks in advance,
Patch
the module is the bcm and theirs a bit more than just swapping it over, you need the key head and the correct part number and level.
have you got any break lights out? this will stop the cruse activating and or check the switches on the pedal for adjustment and condition before swapping the bcm over, and yes vr is 93 to 95 earlier modules wont fit (vn vp)

Hi Moff.
Thanks for the info.
Have checked the brake lights, and there was one out, but have fixed it and tested the cruise, but still not working, so that wasn't the problem. Have also checked the pedal switches too, and it is working properly.
Only thing I can think of now is replacing the BCM.
Cheers

Could also be the Module under the bonnet as well that controls the cable. Id be looking at swapping that before getting a new BCM
also try pressing resume instead of set to see if the new/second hand switch could be faulty mine was, blue wire in the stalk was severed, re sodded and works like new

Have also replaced the entire stem incase the original one was faulty, and no difference.
Wombat, I did have a look at where the cable attaches onto the throttle arm on the side of the motor and it all seemed pretty good. Is that what you are referring to??

did you pull your old switch apart to check for faults ? and just in case, replaced the globe behind the orange ( or green ?) ON sign ?
Hi Greenacc...
Do you mean the switch on the stem, or the switch on the pedal? I replaced the stem entirely... and no, I didn't replace the globe behind the "On" sign. Is there another one there somewhere that comes on when the cruise is set? I see the one that comes on when the cruise is first switched on, but the set one doesn't show up.
The switch on the pedal has been checked and all is working fine there.
Well blown bulb or not you should still be able to set it, just wont glow while its on. still thinking its the module that controls the cable. the car knows it has cruise control but the module just it not setting.
Edels... that's what I'm thinking. That'll be the next step I think... I've already pulled out the module and will probably head off to GDM tomorrow and find a replacement.
Also, are the modules from other models compatible with the VR? I suspect VN, VP, VS are compatible... but I'm kinda guessing....

try swapping with a good stalk.i have been fitting cruise to my Executive, with help from Markovr,if you need another BCM,the VR series are different to the VS,you will also need the 2 key heads to suit the BCM.if you have a blown taillight, the cruise won't work.VN-VP don't have BCM,the Module in the engine bay is the same late VP-VS(the ones i have pilfered from VP's all work in my car)
