    Default wagon tanks

    hi all

does any one know the resistance readings for the vn vp tanks compared to the vr vs tanks.

the wagon tank im using has the return line out to one side, vn, early vp tank im guessing, ive seen the low fuel light once since the tank has been fitted but ran out of fuel soon after (like 5 km). ive been keeping it above a quarter but would be nice to be able to use the last quarter or so

i was thinking there were different resistance readings. or i might just see if i can buy a new sender.

Could it be the pump itself, the float switch could also be playing up? Iv heard of this happening, but not 100% on the legitimately.

Most likley the return line inside the tank. I had exactly the same problem where the car would run rough/stall before the low fuel light would even come on. When it did come on, I wouldn't be able to get anymore than a kilometre or 2 before it would totally refuse to run.

Ended up finding the return line to the swirlpot was broken and a repair was required. Have a search on here as there are plenty of others who have had the same problem.

The series 2 VP got a different setup to the VN and series 1 VP's.The VN and early VP tanks had a seperate return line connector on the actual fuel tank.In the VP series 2 supplement section in the back of the VP gregorys workshop manuals it says "The fuel return hose on the sedan and wagon now enters the fuel tank through the fuel gauge sender/pump unit".This also applies to any VP or VQ that was made from 26th september 1992. In the main part of the book it shows the older style connector on the fuel tank for the return line to connect to..

yeah sorta. ive never been able to get it lower than 1/4 before it cuts out and a it refills 65 or so litres. also at full the needle is way above the full line. i might try and source a new sender and see how i go.

it defiantly has the return line closer to the driver on this tank, i dont think this is a major issue, at least its no cutting out going around corners
