Default vr transmission running odd when warmed up

hey guys im having a weird problem with my gearbox, when it warms up or when ive been driving it a while) it starts playing up for instance:

ill be driving then ill pull up to the lights and ill take off and for a second or 2 it will feel like its stuck in 2nd then will sort of jump back into first, but for the first say half hour of driving its fine

    anyone got any ideas?

Do a codes check first: Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
Also check fluid level and colour.

hey man i had heaps of trouble with my old trans. there is numerous things it could be.

    1. you could get a complete flush and service with dextron with new pan etc for about 250-300

    2. the main problem with mine was the pressure and coolant pipes. get a pressure test done make sure it is maknig enough.

    3. with regards to thje radiator, my pipers were completely clogged as the oil was very old and had just gone bad in the coolant pipes which made the trans slipp etc after it was warm.

try all those let us know how ya go!

hako; i done a fault code check about a week ago and today and yea only came up as 12

rowinski: if your talking about the red vr berlina then yea i know that gearbox didnt seem to healthy, i used to own it lol but yea its nothing like that it doesnt slip at all it just seems to get stuck in second when i take off from standing still once the gearbox is hot, im putting a trans cooler on it sometime this week and if that does nothing then i will be servicing it and yea ill see how i go i guess

Also could be a faulty TPS or VSS - TPS tells the computer where your pedal is and the VSS tells the computer how fast the car is going. If either is bad, the auto will not know when to change.

its very funny u say that mate, i forgot to mention when the gearbox starts playing up the car also increases idle revs from around 800 to 1100? both of these problems happen at the same time,

do u think that the tps could be keeping the gearbox in second when i come to a stop? and then when i take off it realises that it should be in first?

In that case I'd clean the throttle body and the IAC valve and try swapping the TPS with either a new one or one from a wrecker. The VSS is towards the rear of the trans on the RHS.
You should either buy a Gregorys workshop manual or borrow one from your library as it will give you invaluable information. Also check this link: 4l60e Problems and Solutions - S-10 Forum
In theory, the standard trans cooler is OK for normal driving...not towing etc. Fitting an external one certainly improves things but cannot fix a fault....just help prevent that fault.
    Good Luck.

i only drive the car to work and back preety much (no hooning) just cruising, i only wanted to put a trans cooler on because i thought the oil might be thin in the gearbox and heating up to quick or something along those lines, im going to replace the tps and give the throttle body a clean and see how i go, the thing i cant understand is that if it was the tps then why does it seem to only do it after driving for about half hour? but it definintaly idles higher when the gearbox is playing up so i guess it has to be something to do with the tps
