Default Vn v8 wagon into vs v6 ute

Hi everyone. I Just picked up a VN v8 wagon, and i will be putting the 5 litre into my VS V6 ute, and then the V6 back into the wagon, they are also both manuals. I will be starting next weekend. I have a fair idea on the conversion, the only thing thats really stumped me is swapping the wiring harness over so the vn loom will meet up with the old v6 loom. And if the cluster etc will still work properley. I have already converted the tachos from one to the other as seen in another post. Also would it be easiest to pull the motors out the top, or to drop the k frame first as they both have to be swapped either way. ????Any help or advice would be much apreciated. Cheers Chris

not sure you can get away with putting the vn v8 into the vs. pretty sure when doing an engine conversion the engine being put into the car must be built after the car was meaning you cant put a motor into a car when the motor is older than the car is

the cab harness should plug in fine to the ecu's fine. When you pull the motors i would leave all the engine harness attached.
Depends on what gear you have as to whats easiest. With what i have, it would be easiest to lift the box and motor in one straight out the bonnet.

Yeah you can mate, ive already looked into that, they are still the same 304 right through from vn to vs. All with the same emissions. Just has to be blue slipped to change the engine numbers over basically.

Yeah true, thats what i was thinking. Hopefully the looms will go back in the same way and match up. I will have to use the vn ecu tho. I have full access to my mates workshop, as he has his own mechanic buisiness with hoists etc. So you mean pull the motor and box out of both with loom still attatched, then swap k frames over etc ?

vn-s 304 all the same. swap the ecu's over, yes. Leave motor loom attached to the engines, just pull it out of the firewall where it goes through to the ecu. They will go back in the same in the new cars..
If you have access to a hoist, it may be easier to just undo the k frame and gbox mount, lift the car off, and wheel the frame, motor, box out.

hi everyone.. finally have the engine in the ute and running.. Had to take it to the auto sparkys to get some patch looms made, cost me 380 but its running. conversion went pretty smoothly, i had everything from the donar car, then i also replaced everything from my ute back into the wagon, so that will be up for sale soon lol.. Ute Is getting a tune atm, will be picking it up in the morning. The only thing is the speedo isnt working now ? i dont know if its getting different signals or something because its running of the vn computer? or it might not be plugged in rite or something. idunno, Anyway i will find out in the morning.. Also supposed to be getting it regod tomorrow as well.. I will get some photos up soon so you can tell me what you guys think.. Also entered in the summernats, so it will be a ute to look out for.. only six weeks away, so much stuff still do do grrrrrr..
