Hi all!
I have read so many posts now and thanks to all who have posted some awesome tech info on my ute and what I needed for the Power Pack upgrade.
However..........
There are a few conflicting stories and lots of different opions on what works and dosen't.
After finding out that my newly purchased '95 VS S1 Spack ute dosen't have central locking (as I believe none did) dosen't have any of the wiring but still comes with a two button remote that has written on it lock on one and unlock on the other......
I went down to my local wreckers (after reading all of these forums) and scoured their yard for a white VS sedan with power everything.
I have stripped off the two front doors, the power mirrors, power windows, central lock mechs, wiring from indside the door and back to the plugs just inside the pillar after the rubber boots, the mirror controls and handle, the middle switches, the back door switches ( to use in the centre console) the bcm. Do I need anything else? Is there a power window controller or is everything in the sedan BCM?
I have read on another forum that if I plug in the bcm from the sedan (with everything installed) put in my key and leave it in the on position and not start for 30 secs then start the car the key will be programmed to the new BCM. Or do I have to take it to someone, plug in the new BCM and get them to plug in a scanner to do it?
Sorry for the all the Questions just a little confused since this is the first VS I have personally owned.
I have also have a bad whine out of the drive train, put it in neutral while driving and the noise is still their. LSD too, rev dependant, more revs more right foot the louder the noise.
As I believe I am an average knowledged mechanic, thought that maybe a set of wheel bearings and maybe a tail shaft centre bearing, some new LSD oil and I could be on a winner. Has anyone else had experience with this before?
Thanks in advance
to those who help as my head is now in mess!

You will need the ignition key fob (plastic bit with buttons etc.) that belongs to the wrecked vehicle you remove the BCM from.(The BCM and key fob are coded to match eachother, and once the key fob has been programmed once,it cant be changed or reprogrammed). This means your old key fob will be no good if you use that BCM from the wrecked vehicle,in your car.If you really do need to use this BCM and cant get the ignition key fob that belongs to it,get the VIN Number from the wrecked vehicle, ,take it to a holden dealer along with your car and some ID,and they can program a new key to your "new" BCM using the VIN you wrote down from the wrecked vehicle. If it turns out you cant get the matching key fob for the "new" BCM,Once you get your car all back together, you can bypass the immobiliser, this will allow it to start with your old key fob, then just drive it straight to holden for a new key fob like I just mentioned before. You can bypass the immobiliser by leaving the ignition key in the ON position, (reds lit up on dash) for 45 minutes on a series 1 VS,and 120 minutes on a series 2 VS,also the red flashing security light on the centre dash will be off when its ready to start.Just start the engine as normal once this time has passed. If the BCM you use is from a series 2 VS,remember that you will need to wait the 120 minutes instead of the 45,so check out the series of the wrecked car your taking the BCM from..Also remember once the car is turned off,you will have to wait the 45 or 120 minutes again before it will start again. This will happen every time the engine is turned off until the ignition key fob is renewed....Anyway,Im sure Ive read on here somewhere that the BCM in the series 1 utes already supports central locking, and that you just need to add the door wiring and electric door locking mechanisms.I could be wrong about this, but Id check it out further before going to the trouble of swapping BCM,s.

as per the diff whine its possibly the carrirer berings in the diff, cant count how many vr vs utes ive removed and set away to be "rebuilt". you could try new oil first.

I also got the swithes from the centre console but couldn't find any back door switch (must have been a dodgy item to start with) as they had all been pilfered.
Start to tonight with the install.
I'll take some pics and let you all know how it went with the stock BCM and then the sedan one and any other wiring needed.
Cheers all who have helped so far in all the posts on this topic.![]()
