    Default Removing rear shocks?

How do I stop the shock from rotating when trying to remove the upper bolt in the boot?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Use a rattle gun or get a mate to hold the bottom half while you undo it if the top of the shock hasent got a little tap that you can put a small spanner on for you to hold at the same time you undo it.
Have you tryed with the car on the ground, No juck under it/wheels on the ground? Helps keep the pressure against the bottom rubber at the top.

Have you got long arms? The way I do it is to hold the shock with one hand while I undo the nut with the other. Or you cna get someone to help you.

Generally there is a Flat spot on the top of the shock to allow you to put a shifter on the top above the nut to stop the shock spinning, then use a open end spanner to remove the nut.

Agreed, though more often than not the flat bit just shears off.

I have found the best way is just to hold the bottom part of the shock while you undo the nut. Its worked for me the few times I have had to change them.

The problem with that is that the top and the bottom of the shock move independently of each other.

another way it can be done is by putting a ring spanner on the top and then turn the bottom of the shock until the spanner jams against the side of the boot, now just keep turning the bottom of the shock by hand until the nut is off, you will need to have a good strong grip to do it this way but it does work if your by your self and cant reach to hold it
