Not sure about the TPS on the V8, but on the V6 there is a small drive adaptor that goes on the end of the TPS - this can fall out and get lost....if you lose this the car will run like crap.

The TPS drive adaptor is a little square piece of plastic that goes in between the TPS and its housing.See pic below.

It's not unusual for it to drop on the ground or somewhere on the chassis where it is the same colour.

Did you replace the TPS while the throttle body was on the car or did you take the throttle body off and replace?
Do a reset of the PCM and TPS reset. To reset the PCM, discoinnect the battery for ten seconds. To reset the TPS, after reconnecting the battery start the car and rev to 2000 rpm and hold for ten seconds, turn car off. See how that goes.
i took the throttle body off to replace it, ill try to reset the pcm and tps and see how i go, thanks for the addvice

Id just undo the 2 TPS screws again, and have a quick look to make sure the adaptor is still there, now you know what it looks like..Theres a certain way it has to be installed too.You should get a gregorys workshop manual. Then at least you actually know about things like this drive adaptor, and not taking things apart blindly. It makes things a hell of a lot easier in the long run....

Its been a couple of years since Ive had mine off.Im sure mine was black. Some could be white though.Someone here will know for sure .. It should just slip over the throttle shaft...Doesnt even mention a spring in the manual. But I seem to recall there was a spring in mine too,With the workshop manuals, try not to get max ellery or haynes brand manuals.Get the gregorys brand one from places like supercheap or autobarn etc, probably even get them online too..Even better is the factory workshop manuals, but they are expensive and sometimes hard to get hold of.
well id say that the white square thing is the adaptor because nothing else will fit in there and like i said i didnt notice anything drop off, im guna go to autobarn sunday and try get a gregorys workshop manual, thanks alot for the help

Thats probably it then. The manual will save you heaps on repairs and servicing.Well worth it.
Hey all, Ive had to replace my TPS 3 times in the 3.5 years since i've had my 94 vr v6. I've never noticed the above mentioned adaptor unless its the white piece of plastic that sticks out of the TPS?
Does anyone know roughly how long a TPS should last?
Cheers Jack
Were the sensors you fitted genuine holden spare parts? Some cheaper brand aftermarket sensors are rubbish, especially when it comes to some aftermarket CAS's (Crank Angle Sensor). You would be lucky to get 12 months out of them.I only use genuine holden sensors. They have 12 months warranty, and yes, they are more expensive, but using genuine parts can sometimes work out cheaper in the long run.Especially if you end up stuck on the side of the road somewhere in the middle of the night, because some cheap part you thought you saved money on,shite itself.
