You can only hope that they get what they deserve eventually.

I always use the deadlocking feature on these cars, its not gonna stop a thief, but it will slow them down and make it harder for them, they cant just open the doors and get in (even when the windows are broken). It jambs the locks,so they cant be opened, even from the inside, only way to open them is with the key.If they had an ignition key for it,theres not much you can do to stop them though. It might be an old owner, who kept a spare key.People who steal cars (or anything for that matter) weren't born, but were dropped from a dogs ass.

I agree with that. As one of my uncles used to say to someone he didn't like - "you weren't born, you were thrown".

Good luck to the OP, i hope you get her back (and in one piece).

Pretty sure you can match the VIN to a key number. Probably find your average locksmith can do this then cut a new key that you can program yourself. Unprofessional yes if it was dealt in non-legit manor ie. no questions asked. They could have made it out that they were the owners. Maybe they knew someone in the trade or were a locksmith themselves. Yes you can program a new key yourself. We did it with a VT. I cant remember the exact procedure but its like turning the key back and forth a few times then start the car. But once its programed you cant change it to another car. Thats one theory.

Other than that I have no idea how someone could start a VS without modifying wiring to bypass the BCM. Maybe they did. Pretty sure the BCM is behind the glove box. Could have quickly ripped it out, sniped, stripped and crossed some wires and off they went. If thats even possible... and in 30 seconds?! Would have been planned. I know if you take the ignition switch off the barrel and turn it will a screwdriver the motor will turn over but not fire. I tried that at tafe when they couldnt find the key to a demo motor they had out of a VS with all the original wiring and equipment attached to it.

Sorry for the loss. Scumbags who steal or even attempt to steal cars causing damage should just be put against a wall and shot. I think its also a good point to make that you cant rely on your cars factory anti-theft system. That goes for any car but more leaning towards older ones. You would think by now people have have figured out the flaws and how to exploit them. Personally Im a fan of hidden kill switches and other tricks

Good luck, hope you get it back!

thanx guys its the worst feeling especially when you have just spent over 2000 on the new motor anand other things like roof lining to just have it gone that quick its crazy she still hasnt been found yet but i guess its only been a day you can start it with the back of ignition barrel of but the key has to be responding with bcm for it to start learnt that when my ignition barrell broke and i was thinking to but the car was unlocked last sunday morning but i didnt think anything of it ill keep youse updated ill put the cctv footage of it being taken up and get fotos of what they crashed into and anything else that arises

actually all it takes to program the new key is turn it on run it for 30 secs turn it off DONE new key should have programmed itself.

That's all i had to do for mine anyway.
