    Default Central locking wiring

    Hi everyone,

Just picked up a cheapie VS Ute as a run around, and being the poverty pack, Im adding in the central locking for both doors. Ive purchased the door lock actuator and door harness to where it goes through the door.

Where does this end (where it goes in through the door) plug into? Ive got the executive low BCM as well to support the remote central locking. Ive had a look around and there doesnt seem to be a plug for it to go into. Is there another piece of harness that I need?

Edit : trying to do the factory setup

    Thanks

You would normaly get the kit which comes with the control module which runs to the battery, earth and to the controling actuator. You can have 2 of these if you have key slots in both doors to unlock from both sides, or you can have a slave actuator in the passenger door, it sounds to me like you don't have the full kit. You can buy the control module seperatly.

Are you doing a factory set up? did this to mine
When you take off the end pannels of the dash, have a look around for a plug that has nothing pluged into it should be green from memory.

I bought the executive BCM and door harness for the central locking. I had a look and there is a green one, although I suspect thats for the door speakers and not the power mirrors / central locking wiring.
    (am doing the factory setup)

The plug where the door wiring plugs into, is it just off the BCM?

Does anyone know if the BCM already fitted to the utes, supports central locking,or does it need to be swapped over to an executive BCM?Im sure Ive read somewhere that the BCM in the series 1 VS ute already supports the central locking and you just need to add the door wiring and the central locking door assemblies.

not all utes have central locking, you need to have a low or mid level BCM, look under the drivers side of the dash near the fuse box theres a black box and in bold on a white sticker there will be 3 numbers and that co-ordinates to the level of BCM,

    Low - 498 or 788
    Mid - 097 or 789

That BCM in the pic is exactly the same as the BCM in my 1995 VS exec sedan.(LOW 150)It should already support central locking as mine has central locking. I also have cruise control, but no power windows.

I dont know if ,or how much this will help ,but I was looking at the wiring diagram for the power door locks in the VS gregorys workshop manual, theres a few different coloured wires going from the BCM to all the power door locks.Theres the following.
    -
Black/red wire-to LHF door lock switch actuator
Brown/red wire-to RHF door lock switch actuator
Black/yellow wire-to LHF door lock switch actuator
    Black earth wire
    Black/white earth wire
Light Green/yellow wire-to RHF door lock switch actuator
Red/yellow wire-to RHF door lock switch
    Brown/orange wire-to LHF,LHR,RHR door lock actuators

All the above wiring is from the BCM to the various power door locks.
obviously the rear door wiring wont be there in the ute..

Theres also a low 150 BCM pictured in the VS gregorys workshop manual. The Tech 1 scantool shows my BCM as a low series or type 1 BCM.

best way to test if your bcm supports it is, if you've had a replacement key done with the 2 buttons on it just click unlock and see if the interior light turns on, if it dose the bcm supports central locking. only works with the replaced key with 2 buttons though

Tezza,Id just look for any spare wiring connectors around the door area and then check for the wiring colours I posted above. The drivers side plug should have a Brown/red wire,a Light Green/yellow wire, and a Red/yellow wire.
The passenger side plug should have a Black/red wire,Black/yellow wire,Brown/orange wire.

Thanks for the pic. I'll have another look tonight when I get home.
Is the green speaker plug a a part of the loom as well?

I followed the green green speaker plug and it goes into the main wiring but there doesnt seem to be any other plugs around.

Ok bad news, had another look at the ute and there is no plug whatsoever on the harness that looks like it will fit. There is only a orange one which I assume is for the airbag (not fitted).
Nothing on the passenger side either, it must have started its life as a real poverty pack ute, even the central locking wiring is missing

There is no fuse in the central locking / power mirror fuse either so Im guessing the harness which got put in my ute doesnt have support for the keyless entry.

To keep things factory, and while the car is half apart, can I change the bcm wiring harness, or is it going to involve changing the whole loom which goes across the dash and out the drivers side engine bay?

Sucks to hear that mate, yea just looking at the wireing diagarams that i got from tafe youll have to remove the whole harness from under both sides of the dash and out the drivers side firewall and around the engine bay.

Thanks, just started a new thread about the wiring removal and stuff. It does suck big time. Apart from being a time consuming job, is there any major problems doing this?

Ok well just to update, the ute has central locking now, after changing over the complete main wiring harness. Not a job I want to do again!
Did you install power windows into your ute?
