Please help i need the car for work tomorrow and nothing works at all.
Battery is all good.
I had the interior light on and then turned the ignition over and everything went dead all lights and electrics inside out including central locking.
Earlier on in the day i heard something like a short and then smelt a little bit off smoke come from the steering column but i started the car 3 times since then until now when everything went dead.
Is there a fuse or did the computer shit itself or anything worst that could be at fault.
PLEASE HELP ME.
Checked all fuses under the dash..?
Id also check out the fusible links which are under a smaller cover in front of the fuse box under the bonnet.
check the fuel pump fuse under the bonit, this powers up the bcm

The little fuse box infront off the big one in the drivers side engine bay has a main which is 60 but it doesnt look broken like all the lines are straight and not stuffed like you would find with a 10 or 25 fuse under the dash.
So could it be a bcm ?
Ok well i sussed it out.
i heard the BCM clicking after attempting to kick it over.
I tested all the fuses and there all good i even swapped around all the relays for the F/Pump since the bcm runs off that.
In the end i was gob smacked and couldn't figure it out so i took out the F/pump fuse and disconnected the negative terminal for 20 seconds i then turned it over after noticing all power was working again and then same thing everything went dead.
I then re-set it for 10 seconds and then turned it over to accesories and the after the fuel pump kicked in i waited and then turned it over and it started.
While it was started i tried all electrics and then a few times turned it off and locked the doors and then opened them and re tested it all and it turned over no worries.
I think my BCM is on its way or just being a bi**ch
I'd be looking further before blaming the BCM - the electrical short you heard would have killed the BCM if it came from the BCM unit. I'd be checking the electrical connections at the back of the ignition switch and the switch itself - a bad or loose connection there can cause your problem. I'd also run the fault codes just to see what pops up. Unless you locate the actual fault, it will return....bet your bottom dollar on that.

I had the exact same problem......Clean battery clamps and terminals, and tighten well.
