Default VR Theft Deterrent signal missing / Transmission Component Slipping

I have a VR Wagon with fault codes 31 and 68 showing up only when the car is at highway speeds.
31 is "Theft Deterrent Signal Missing" and 68 is "Transmission Component Slipping."
These codes weren't appearing before I had cut the new key and serviced the transmission.
Does anyone know what they mean? What actions should I take?

31 Theft Deterrent Signal Missing usually comes up if you have used a dataloging device as it hoggs the databus

With the trans slipping issue, be sure to check the trans oil level after the car has been driven to operating temperature, then with the engine still running and in Park check the oil level it should be at the full level on the dip stick.

The workshop manual says error code 31 -The theft deterrent missing - means the BCM did not return a signal to the ECU to permit operation of the injectors, there will be a 1 second delay in starter motor operation when the ignition key is turned to the "start" position when this code is set.Ive seen this code set on lots of these cars.I dont think its a problem with the ignition key like some people say, if the ignition key has trouble sending,or doesnt send a security signal at all to the BCM,the engine usually wont even attempt to crank.(immobiliser).The ignition key security signal only goes to the BCM,not the ECU.The BCM sends its own security code to the ECU ,once its detected the proper ignition key signal.I think it might be a lack of this signal between the BCM and ECU that sets the code. Not the loss of security signal between the ignition key and BCM.

No,just clear the codes by disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes. Then after youve driven it for half an hour or so,recheck to see if the error codes have returned at all.Sometimes they can set for no particular reason. The code 31,Ive seen it hunderds of times,it happens on all of these cars at one time or another.I wouldnt worry about it too much.As for the transmission error code,if it comes back again,Id try servicing the transmission by changing its fluid and filter.(worth doing anyway, even if the code doesnt come back)
