I recently brought a VS S-pac commodore and the fella i brought it off told me that the odometer isn't working. I'd love to leave it and imagine i'm never gaining k's but i think it's time to get it sorted.
Is there any way to fix this myself or will i have to take it to a mechanic?
Cheers.
Its the cog thats broken, its about a $10 fix. I dont have or have seen a how to to do this, but im lead to believe its fairly simple.
It will be the usual; a couple of teeth stripped from the odometer driven gear. If you can buy the gear it's very easy to do yourself. I think there's a How To and the links below this post will probably get you there.
The difficult part may be finding someone to sell you the gear as instrument repairers are not supposed to sell the them, although there are some around who will do so.
The genuine gears are a sort of rubbery plastic and although they will fail (after about 15 years!) they are easier on the other gear than the harder plastic reproductions that are around.
I'm not entirely sure because i don't think he really checked it out and i don't know how to.
Can anyone tell me how to check? I don't wanna funk up my dash.
Cheers for the info, seq.
The cogs are usually available on Ebay from a few different sites.
