Default IRS camber and toe in issues

    Hey all
This one should be fairly short or maybe not, seeing as I couldn't get the exact answer I was after from searching. My question is does pan hard bar adjust toe in/out as well as camber because my rears have real bad toe in which I only just noticed unfortunately so my 10000k old tyres are near bald on the outside and already bald on the inside. The car squats almost all the time unless I'm taking off very gently, and has pretty bad camber because its lowered. So will pan hard bar be my answer?

Mate is it IRS or solid axle rear end?The IRS rear end doesnt have a panhard rod.And toe in/out is not adjustable on solid diff rear ends.

being an ss id say it is irs, which dont use a panhard rod(these are used on live axle cars to keep the axle centeredthrough suspension travel, thats it).

you will need a "camber kit" which consists of eccentric bolts and bushes for the control arms. kits in both the inner and outer bushes will allow some camber and toe adjustment. depending how low it is, the kit might not fix it totally, but will help a lot.

Ah, right so I don't have a pan hard. Im not overly fussed about the camber its the toe I'm worried about, you can see it easily standing along side the car. Any rough guesstimations on a price for the kit?

Around $150. Jusmp on to ebay and search "VS IRS Toe" Youll see what were talking about and can give you some prices.

im a mech, had a vr ss same issue.all commodres that are lowered have this issue but most ppl who lower their car and put wheels on it dont even think about this kit.you only notice the real difference in your back pocket on tyres most ppl dont notice till they get knocked on rego for tyres they only just put on.
kits are approx $140 each side plus labour they are a bitch to put in on the outside bushes. takes about 2-3 hours to put in so at aprrox about $80 an hour the kits installed are around $500 mark but will save you way more than that on tyres after a little bit.
    anyways hope this helps

Or you could install them yourself, do a quick eye alignment then drive to a tyre mob and pay for a wheel alignment.
Thus spending less then half the quote $500.

Reverse the car about a metre and look at the rear.wheels, if the camber and toe are significantly worse, then you have a cracked K frame. If not then a camber kit will help. I do 4 point kits for $180 posted.

Ah thanks everyone, I'll have a look to see if it gets worse on reverse tomorrow. And I don't know about having a crack at putting them in my self, I reckon I could but if I stuff up I'm screwed seeing as its my only car. I might buy the kit and get a mech to put it in to save on their markup at least.

Good Luck yeh good idea taking them to a mechanic let them hassel with outside bolt haha, uve gotta cut it out with an airknife or grinder to actually get it out the original is too long and hits the car. the new kit has a bolt from each side and the inside bolt is the adjuster(essentric)
just remember though the mechanics only mark up is from trade to RRP(unless they are dodgy) but it serves no purpose in them being cheats and making it more than RRP because that way you can buy it from the auto shop yourself for cheaper. so thats y they invented trade so the mech buys it a little cheaper then RRP and when they sell it on to the consumer its the same as RRP from the shop to stop arguement.
Not_an_abba_fans price of $180 is good so buying those and giving them to the mech would be cheaper. trade price for me is $100 each side 4 way adjust. they are nolathane or superpro. some ppl dont like the nolathane as they tend to squeak after a bit even if they were greased up once installed.. so be mindful but you want good ones as lowering the car puts stress on these joints/bushes so u dont want them flogging out readily

Cheers, yeah I reckon I'll get the kit for sure now. Yeah most mechs may only put it up to RRP but in Canberra unless your having heaps of work done at one place and get friendly with them (a guy at work was getting free dynos etc.) you'll get ripped off due to lack of competition. The only thing I really stress about when I can't do it myself is them flogging my car, I know there are honest mechs out there but a few of my mates who always tell me how they flog cars really gets me worried.
