    Default Front Struts giving me grief.

    hey guys,

    I cant get the strut upper mount off. Ive got a rattle gun, but i dont think its powerful enough or the nut is very tightly on. any suggestions?

    Soak it in WD-40 then attack it with the rattle gun. If that fails gently heat it with a torch then rattle gun again.

    if you talking about the nut in the engine bay it is a locking nut so it will be hard to undo

    the rattle gun needs more air flow how big is the hose on your compresser this will be the problem of the rattle gun

    Nuts sieze, its a fact of life. Doesnt make the owner of the car stupid or anything.

    Try a stilson wrench, or just a pair of vice grips on the shock to hold it so it wont just spin freely, and a tube socket and your rattle gun on the top nut.

    If that fails, slip a bit of pipe over a flex bar.

    Or just go to pickapart and get another strut.

    loctite make a product called freeze n release i think got some at work i broke 3 kingchrome breaker bars (one with a 2.5m 30x5 shs section on it) trying to get a bolt out of an oven gave it a blast with this stuff and worked a treat

    Basically just areosol version of liquid nitrogen

    thanks for the info guys.
    I did my mates the other day and it wasnt that hard. But that was with a differnt rattle gun/compresor
    loctite make a product called freeze n release
    sounds like a cool product.
