Solar sensor on vs berlina?

ive noticed my vs berlina has a solar sensor on the dash? little round black thingo in in the centre of the dash? whats this do? i dont have auto headlights as far as im aware or is it for something else? cim a little confused as to why itd be there

I noticed the other day in a VS wiring diagram,that the sun sensor goes to the electronic climate control module, so its definitely something to do with the climate control system.

yep gets hotter outside so climate control adjusts and gives colder air

It's for when you get cloud cover the climate system slows the air fan speed as the car will be cooler inside out of direct sun light. - Also same for when you go into an under cover car park on a 40 deg day.
