    Default Auto exchange

Hi all, I'm replacing the dead auto trans on my vs berlina, I have the Gregory's manual, does anyone have any tips as to what goes wrong when doing this yourself, anything not covered in the manual???? Thanks in advance.

Make sure you get the same model auto box or newer. Dead empty fluid is 8L. Prepare for fluid to go everywhere. Best way, get a drop tray big enough to cover the sump and hold about 8L of fluid and drop the sump. The rest is just removal and fitment.

as above, if you have like a 6HDD you cant fit a 4HDD.

dont do it alone either, the box weighs heaps.

And when you refit the trans, make sure the converter is fully pushed home into the bell housing and mating with the box.....otherwise it will not bolt up. Be careful with the cooler pipes...they break easy.
