Most people do it so they can fit a double row timing chain. There's no actual benefit from disabling the balance shaft.

Probably the only benifit i can see is less drive to turn it over. Some people say it creates a slight vibration at about 1700rpm but thats about it.

Ive taken mine out for my engine build.

Usually if your rebuilding any type of car engine, and you want it to run smooth and hang together better at higher revs, you should always get the pistons, conrods, and crankshaft balanced .So even with the balance shaft removed, with this done, the V6 should run pretty smooth anyway. Some motors vibrate more than others, its to do with their configuration and how many cylinders it has etc. This configuration of engine probably suffers from it at certain revs (as mentioned above "around 1700 rpm") and thats why they run a balance shaft in the first place.

woah hang on a second !!!!!! rofl do you actualy remove the balance shaft or just the drive , only asking because if oil runs thru it under pressure if you remove it you loose all pressure thru your engine ? like if you take out the cam etc so if the balance shaft bearing is rattling its ass off you can just pull the shaft out or drop the drive off the front ?

yes there is one oil hole to block on VS onwards either a welsh plug in the hole or or tap the hole and screw in a bung or you can just leave the shaft in there and remove the gear off it

depends if you have the front off and the inlet and doing other work in there you can while youre there it will start rattling at some stage they allways do.if you were just going to rip it to bits just to disable it i wouldnt bother
