    Angry Code 76

Code 76 is coming on now, something to do with fuel/air ratio left or right right bank, in gregorys manual it sais one of the problems could be exhuast leak, do you think this high pitch rap noise could be related?? the weird thing is the engine light pops on when starting the car for the first time, so i turn the car off then restart the car then the code never appears while driving?? and im pretty sure its not the 02 sensors

From memory code 76 is for fuel trim.

This may be caused by faulty O2 sensors or a bad earth to the sensor.

Is used to get this until I rewired the earth.

Im sure there is a how to on this. Might have to try a search.

If your getting a variation in air/fuel between left and right banks then it's likely a dead O2 sensor - to check for an exhaust leak first, get your car up on a hoist or ramps and spray some silicon spray around any flanges and welds. You could even take it to an exhaust place to do it, they might not even charge you for the 5mins it'll take to check.

^^^^NEVER SPRAY SILICON NEAR EXHAUSTS OR INTAKES!!!!!

Silicon will destroy the O2 sensors. Even using silicon spray to refit intake ducts is risky.
This is why 'sensor safe' sealants are made, they contain no silicon.

Ummm, how would using silicon spray on the OUTSIDE of the exhaust do ANYTHING detrimental to your O2 sensors?

    ^^^^^

    Ummmm.........

Because O2 sensors read the oxygen in the OUTSIDE air through a small passage in the back of the sensor (near where the wires go in) and compares it to the oxygen content of the exhaust.

How will an EXHAUST leak cause an O2 sensor to FAIL?

I never said it would you tool. Read the post. I never said anything even like that. I said a air/fuel ratio bank variation could likely be an O2, if it's not an exhaust leak, and to rule out the exhaust leak first....was that really that hard to understand?? I really didn't think so.
I also said to spray it on flanges and welds, where a leak is more likely - nothing about near O2 sensors.

If you don't like my suggestions thats fine. Get over it.

Perhaps then you could explain how spraying silicon will find a leak?

I was thinking the exact same thing.Hows it gonna show where an exhaust leak is?Ive used spray type lubricants (WD40) or dewatering fluid to find vacuum leaks around a leaking inlet manifold, but never heard of it showing up an exhaust leak. With the inlet manifold, the spray gets sucked into any inlet manifold leaks which then causes the revs of the engine to change..I cant see how this will work on the exhaust system though.
