    Default Dash Cluster

    hey all

    i got a VS commodore now i just got a quick question... do i need different looms if I want to put a digital dash cluster? i have the original standard dash but wouldnt mind putting the one where it tells you how many kms to go and that.

    You can modify your standard loom to suit, its easy enough if you have installed a headunit or two before.

    There is a wiring diagram in the "tripin" thread but some of the wiring colours are different - I wired mine just by the positions on the connectors rather than the colours on the diagram.

    Just remember to cut fairly long tails on the plugs when you get the dash, you will need them.

    you will have to strip a l3 dash loom to get the necessary wiring and connecting plugs to join to your original loom ....if i had a choice i would take the old loom out pulling a draw wire with it to aid putting it back in, untape between the last dash connector and headlight switch wiring,modify by teeing off necessary wires,retape and reinstall but if you dont care how it looks you can do it to your original loom in the car but its very fiddily.
