Default What is this line/hose (Near Auto Trans filler neck)

    Hi,

I've been trying to find where my Auto transmission is leaking from, have taken the inspection plate off, bit of fluid at the bottom but looking up at the converter and around it, dry as can be.

I've found a line that didn't seem to be on correctly on a joiner, not sure what flows through it, but when i removed it i could have sworn a bit of transmission fluid dripped out of it. Here are some pictures :

It's near the transmission filler neck and near brake/fuel hardlines, and it's 2 lines joined in the middle
with an adaptor so they slide off. One side comes up toward the upper bellhousing, and the other dissapears into the chassis of the car.

    Thanks.

That would be the air con drain tube for condensation.

The most common place for them to leak is where the lines go to the radiator. The lines become hard and leak past the hose clamps, then the fluid runs to the lowest point then drips.

Lines going to radiator are dry. That line doesn't seem to be the one for the air con because it's on the drivers side, the a/c one I believe is on the passengers side.

Might just be the breather from the trans then.

It's not the rubber hose connected to the transmission that act as a breather? - if you overfill it can get dumped out the breather. Mine just sits on the bellhousing however it would have been 'moved' when my new trans went in.
Press a paper tissue against the end of it and check the colour of the oil you think you saw.
