    Default Diff Advice

Hey i have a vs v6 auto with really basic mods, pretty much just an exhaust system and a otr cai. im thinking about doing something with the diff to give the car a bit better acceleration. what i cant decide on is whether to get an lsd with 3.45 ratio (as the 'best' ratio i can afford with an lsd at the moment) or to just buy some 4.11 gears and stick them in the current standard diff. what would give me a bigger improvement in overall acceleration? the car is only street driven and im not bothered about being able to chuck mad skids bro with lsd haha, i just want improved acceleration of the line. also rough ideas on the costs of having both fitted? i have rough costs of the parts but not sure how much the labour will cost and just want a ball park figure before i start getting quotes. thanks

I would say you would get the best acceleration from 4.11s I had some in my old Calais I loved them

Just buy some 4.11s and a mini spool and get them installed in the stock diff you will love it

4.11 will give ya more off the line less up top and les kays out of ya fuel tank if its a road car dont weld or mini spool the diff at all if ya want both wheels to spin lsd it if not just change the gears if ya do any highway kays go the 3.45 will get ya a bit more off the line than the 3.08 but not as much as the 4.11 will but will get more kays out of the tank than the 4.11.

If you like driving any long distance in your car you will hate the 4.11s cos it will rev its nuts off on the freeway
i'd go the 3.45 LSD as the best all round performer, but make sure the Lsd isn't flogged out before you get it as they are more xpensive to rebuild.

im not too keen on a minispool or welded diff, would get irritating on a daily driver i think. i may go the lsd 3.45 and then when i have the cash further down the line i could get 4.11 gears for it. having the 4.11s wont bother me as i do practically no highway driving. mostly suburban driving in 50, 60 and 70kmh zones so im hoping the fuel consumption wont be too badly hit haha. thanks for all the help and advice everyone
