Hi everyone. Im doing an engine conversion at the moment.. i have just put a vn 5 litre engine into my vs ute. Having a few problems with the loom.. the loom plugs in fine using the new ecu etc. Although the v6 and v8 looms are different where they come around for the headlights, the v6 is all one thing, and the v8 is separate from the engine to the headlights. Im just wondering if the v8 loom unplugs through the fire wall on the drivers side, or do i need to cut it, or should i leave the existing v6 loom for the headlights and just re wire it..???
You shouldn't have to cut the Vs loom as all! theres three plugs just near your booster that are used for the vs and theres two plugs near the battery used for the vn's.
The vn engine loom connects to the vn body loom near the battery and also underneath the dash on the passenger side.
The vs engine loom connects to the vs body loom near the brake booster with three plugs and also under the passenger side of the dash.
In your case you'll need to make a patch loom from the near the battery for those 2 plugs to up near the booster for the 3 plugs, You'll also need to make another patch loom for your transmission as the vn/vp's go through the floor and connect below your radio and the vs's connect through those three plugs where you booster is.
Also note that you will have to re-pin the plugs under the passenger side of the dash. i have seen a vp loom connect directly into a vs loom! could have been alot worse!
okay, so what your saying is i need an extension from the battery to the booster ? also when i re pin the plugs under the passenger side, will it just be a matter of matching the colours up from the old loom ?
