a mate and myself have just done an engine swap from one vs to another, along the way we decided wed chuck a t5 in rather then the auto box... now its all back together, we took the wiring harness from the vs which had the t5 in it and hooked it up to the vs auto ecu but it would not fire, so we thought wed try another ecu which is out of a manual vt and it fires but will not run, like it starts then cuts out before u can say yesss haha... any ideas people?? i suggested we just go get a manual ecu out of a vs but its easier said then done so... please help?

should be no problems using the auto ecu, theres a couple of different connections at the ecu. need to check that out.
vt ecu won't run that easily lol. lots of different connections, much more security that needs sorting out.
but there is no reason that the vs ecu wouldn't have allowed it to crank.
no worries, well ive got another auto ecu out of a vs and yeah its now doin the same thing the vt ecu was doin, just fires and goes to drop to normal idle speed but just cuts out, if its not to mush to ask what are the connections your talking about? on the auto vs ecu?

Check ur vacuum lines....and fuses
done that, there was a split in a vacuum line on the back of the plenum so i replaced that, checked fuses and non of them seemed burnt out, still doing same thing, someone said something about the bcm so weve now got a 150 low bcm, did have a 149 high? is there any difference or will this change anything...?

ahk, cheers yeah thats plugged in still no luck but, ive been told that its got a bad earth, so im thinkin the ground wire that bolts in to the block near the d/s engine mount is in the wrong spot so im about to go have a look at that... otherwise its back to the drawing boards

Sounds like it has somethig to do with the security system, that is why it is stalling straight after you have started it, because it thinks someone is trying to steel it. Make sure that the flasing red light is not flashing when your trying to start it, if it is still flashing you will have a key problem or key reader ploblem. Also if you have changed the bcm over make sure you keep the matching key with the bcm just change the key blade over other wise it wont start either.
Bcm n ecu Cancelling each other out
nah the red light doesnt flash, but even still u can over ride that and the last one i had to do that with it wouldnt even turn over cause me mate smashed his key and couldnt find that little metal button... and with what vr_acclaim said, would i have to get the matching bcm and ecu out of the same car? i have the bcm in it which it came with but its an ecu from the wreckers...

The only security (immobiliser) stuff is between the ignition keyfob and BCM which have to have matching security codes,(come from the same car). The ECU doesnt matter. This setup was changed with the later models (VT onward)and the ECU has to be linked to the BCM in them. But not with a VS or earlier.
check this link out this is how i wired mine up when i done the conversion, keepin in mind that i used the auto harness, this should solve your wiring issues. I know there hard to come by but for the computer issue i would bite the bullet and get myself a manual ecu, i was using a auto ecu with all error codes taken off and had stalling issues.
VS Commodore manual/auto conversion wiring step by step instruction.
Forgot to post link
